Cars & Coffee 1/16/2010

Last Saturday marked the first Cars & Coffee of the new year. The salty roads and cloudy weather were not enough to keep the exotics away though. The size of the meet was evidence that everyone was itching to get their cars out of the garage for a little bit.

Blizzard 2009!

Forget the cancelled flights, closed roads, traffic jams, backbreaking shoveling, and the grocery stores being completely out of milk, eggs, and toilet paper. That's not what a blizzard is all about. Blizzards are nice and pretty to look at, and make for some great pictures, right? Well, that's what I keep trying to tell myself so that I forget about all the things in the first sentence. At the time these were taken we had about 18" of snow and it was still coming down. Enjoy the pictures!

About 4:00 pm, this is what our deck looked like.

Baby Mary's First Christmas

My friends had their first baby a couple months ago and asked me to take pictures of their family for a Christmas card. Well, we went a little crazy with the pictures and ended up taking way more than they needed, which was certainly not a problem. Mary is one of the cutest babies I've ever met, and she was very well behaved for the photos.

Altered Racin Food Drive Car Show

Last weekend Altered Racin held a car show to raise food donations for families in need. The turnout was pretty decent for mid-November.

MilitaryPerformance.com 3rd Annual Support the Troops Meet

My friends Topher, Leiter and I have organized a Support the Troops benefit car show three years in a row now. Last weekend was our third one and we had a great turnout. We had 82 cars, a whole trunk full of donated supplies and $520 donated in cash, all to be given to the USO. Unfortunately the weather kept some people away, otherwise we would have had an even better turnout!

The beauty of this event is that it doesn't matter what kind of cars people are into...everyone comes to show their support for our troops. One gentleman even told me about his son who is currently deployed overseas and he was truely grateful to us for organizing the car meet.

Bonus Post - Acura CL, Acura RSX, and Lexus IS300

After taking pictures of Chris' IS250, we met up with some friends and I took a few pictures of their cars in the same parking garage.

Reppin HellaFlush on the East Coast

Chris has an insane wheel/tire/suspension setup on his 2008 Lexus IS250. His car has been featured on HellaFlush and he's one of the few on the East Coast with such an aggressive stance.

In layman's terms, HellaFlush fitment is about having your wheels line up flush with your fenders. When you combine wide wheels with lowered suspension, it takes more than just putting the wheels on the car and calling it a day. Needless to say, while the mods to Chris' car are subtle, it certainly took some work to get it right. Here's what he's got done to it:

SSR SP1 wheels
- 19x9 +26 225/35/19 fk452
- 19x10 +19 245/35/19 dz101
rolled fenders
carbon fiber front lip
OEM rear lip
6k HIDs with yellow fogs

Peeking Out from the Shadows

My friend Nate asked me to take some pictures of his car and motorcycle in his garage. He had this "peeking out from the shadows" idea, so I said I'd give it a shot. We tried manipulating the light with a few different shop lights I had, and in the end he was happy with the result. For the first shot, I had a light placed about 15 feet away diagonally from the passenger side.

DSC_4695 copy

For the next two shots, I had a light directly in front of the car, and elevated about 10 feet in the air as to not cast too much of a shadow on the back wall.

DSC_4716 copy

He's not totally happy with these headlights anymore so these will eventually be swapped out for different ones

DSC_4722 copy

On my way home, I stopped by a local factory I had been meaning to check out for some time now. Pretty neat location. I will probably go back there if I have a better car to shoot. For now, I just had my car to use as the subject. This was a 30-second exposure and I also used my flash twice, once aimed directly at the front of the car and the second time more towards the back.

TPC Racing Open House

Last weekend, TPC Racing opened their shop to automotive enthsiasts of all kinds, but sent a special invitation to Porsche owners. TPC Racing recently created a turbo kit for the Porsche Cayman and they wanted to show it off to some potential new customers. They are also known for their supercharger kits for the Porsche 911 platform.

Not only did they open up their shop for everyone to see, they were also gracious enough to provide free sandwiches and drinks. Parking was a little tight but they made it work. If you want more information about TPC Racing, visit their website at TPCRacing.com.
